Smart Groups are dynamic, meaning that they automatically update. New members who meet the criteria you define will be added to the group continuously. For example, a smart group would be valuable if you have a New Hires Orientation course running over time that you want to continuously add and remove groups of employees.
You may also use a smart group for reporting purposes. For example, you can keep track of a group of employees with the same manager and see how they're doing across different assignments.
For Smart Groups, you will first need to upload a CSV file of your group members via the 'People' tab. Click on 'Import with CSV', then select your CSV file. Select your name column as well as your email column (you can also Cerego ID's instead), and select 'Import'. Please note that importing may take a few moments.
Next, using the 'Groups' tab, click 'Create Smart Group', then enter your group's name and description. Once you have done so add your rules for inviting people and click 'Create Smart Group'. (This may take a few moments to process.)
Groups do not update as new contacts meet the criteria. Instead, they are a group of people you manually add via email addresses.
A group can be helpful when you have a specific set of people in mind.
To get started navigate to your 'Groups' tab, then select the drop-down arrow to click 'Create Group'. Once you have done so fill in your name as well as a brief description (optional). After that fill in the email addresses of those you would like in the group, separated by commas, and click 'Create Group'.
